How many summer placements do you offer? Generally, we offer five placements across our offices.

How long are summer placements? We offer a four-week placement, generally working in two different practice groups, and aim to provide you with an insight to the firm and our culture during your time with us.

Will I be assessed during my placement? At the end of your time in each practice group, you will be assessed on the work you have carried out. We are also interested in getting feedback from you on your experience with us.

What year of study should I be in before I can apply for a summer placement? To be considered for a placement, you need to be in at least your third year of a Scots Law Degree or first year of the accelerated LLB and be available for four consecutive weeks between June and August.

Do I need to have previous legal experience to apply? Previous legal work experience is not necessary but we are looking for applicants who are enthusiastic about the law and keen to learn more in a practical working environment.

What is the interview process? You will generally meet with one of our partners and a member of the People & Development team.

What range of practice areas will I work in? This will vary depending on which practice groups have opportunities for students.

Are the placements paid? Yes, if you are recruited as part of the four-week placement programme, you are paid during your time with us.
